Sarawak Bubur Pedas

Bubur Pedas(originated from sarawak) Unlike many other porridge that we know, Bubur Pedas is cooked with a specially prepared paste. It is quite spicy thanks to its ingredients, Which include spices, turmeric. lemon grass, galangal, chilies, ginger, coconut and shallots. Like the famous Bubur Lambuk of Kuala Lumpur, Bubur Pedas is exclusive dish prepared during the month of Ramadan and served during the breaking of fast.

Sarawak Midin

Midin is originated from sarawak.
The locals greatly indulge in jungle fern such as the Midin
(quite similar to pucuk paku that is popular in the Peninsular)
Midin is much sought after for its crisp texture and great taste.
Midin is usually served in two equally
delicious ways- fried with either garlicor belacan.

(stir-fired Midin with Harlic and shallots)

Klang BaK-Kut-Teh

Klang is believed to have been the origin of this delicacy.Bak Kut Teh is one of the most popular chinese delicacy in Malaysia. The Ingredients used consist of pork ribs and herbs such as tong kui.Spices used include cinnamon, cloves garlic abd star anise. The pork ribs are boiled in the herbs for hours until the meat become tender.Other additional ingredients that are used include mushroom, lettuce and dried tofu.

The other side dish that you can order is the fried dough(Yu Char Kueh) which is eaten by dipping the strips of dough into the soup. The meal is not complete without one or two vegetables dishes that are usually cooked with oyster sauce and dried onions.

This is how it looks like when you eating Bak Kut Teh, tea is normally served with your Bak Kut Teh TO dissolve the fat in the pork. So far i have not seen anyone ordered carbohydrate drinks with Bak Kut Teh for the information of the healt conscious person you can always order lean meat like what normally we do.

Ipoh Salted chicken

When you think of Ipoh food,
apart from dim sum and bean sprout chicken hor fun ,
salted chicken naturally comes into the picture.
As the name suggest, it is a salty chicken.
Sounds like a dumb statement,
but to be exact it is a herbal chicken steamed with rock salt.
It is not something that you’ll eat every day,
especially with the high content of salt but it makes a good souvenir.
Well the reason I say souvenir is because, its only available for take away .

The chicken is a kampung chicken and is really, really small.
As you can see above, it is mostly skin and bones.
Taste wise, it is not as good as the one from Ipoh.
